Trancoso is one of the most desired destinations in Brazil for its natural beauty with scenic landscapes and a unique charm. The charming historic downtown known as Quadrado, enchants all comers with its colonial houses and centennial trees. Listed by the Institute of National Historic and Artistic (IPHAN), the Quadrado is full of history and attractive colorful houses.
The beautiful blue ocean behind São João Batista Church, on top of a cliff, makes it one of the most appealing places in Trancoso.

Trancoso: Beaches and attractions
On the beaches of Trancoso, visitors will find the perfect place to rest and have fun with paradisiac beaches, thin sand and warm and crystal-clear water. Admire nature with majestic cliffs, natural pools and coconut groves. On the southern margins of the Trancoso river is where the lively beaches are located: Praia dos Nativos beach, with horseback riding, kayak and surfboard rental. Praia dos Coqueiros beach, both are located close to the Trancoso Quadrado.
From Praia do Rio Verde to Praia do Espelho (also known as Praia do Curuípe), there are 16 km of desert sands, passing through the Itaquena and Itapororoca Points, and through Barra do Rio dos Frades, where the river runs in parallel to the beach.
Offering some infrastructure, Praia do Rio da Barra is worth visiting towards the North; a great place for a fresh water swim. There’s also Praia do Taípe, bordering the famous district of Arraial d’Ajuda, boasting a number of tourist spots with exuberating nature.
